Rain Fuels Garden Growth and Upcoming Activities

08/06/22: Garden tours at the Carver Garden during National Night Out didn’t happen as planned, but we’ll do better next year. Heavy rains the past several weeks have really fueled growth in the newly planted sweet potatoes, squash, watermelon, sweet corn, and turnips. Three weeks since planting and the yellow squash are already producing harvestable veggies!

This next week, we will be harvesting prickly pear seedlings that we will plant along the outside fence border to form a living green wall to deter wildlife and non-paying customers. Also, for those of you who might be interested, One Valley, Inc. will be sponsoring our Fall Adopt-A-Street cleanup in a 5-block area surrounding the Carver Garden. If you'd like to volunteer for the cleanup, please mark your calendar for Saturday, September 10th starting at 9:00 am and email me at yagow@cox.net to let me know you are coming so we can arrange for the appropriate amount of cleanup supplies.
