03/16/23: After a hiatus due to the reorganization of our non-profit and then the Covid-19 pandemic, One Valley, Inc. has re-started a series of Community Conversations, originally led by Tom Cain and Rev. Carroll Carter back in 2013-2016. The first Community Conversation in this series was held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at St. Paul’s UMC. Our goal is to give voice to the people of Northwest Roanoke and lead positive community actions. The focus of the meeting was gathering information from the community about positive assets, challenges and future hopes for the community, with the hope of creating conversations that lead to collective action for change and improvement. Thirty-three members of the community participated in the event, followed by healthy snacks, refreshments, and social time. Input from the meeting will be used to create the agenda for the next Community Conversation to be held on Tuesday, April 25th, at 6:30 pm, also at St. Paul’s UMC.
