06/17/23: The neighborhood appears to be getting cleaner! Our quarterly Adopt-A-Street clean-up on Saturday by Rev. Carter, J.J. and Gene netted only 6 bags of trash. The same area produced 15 bags in April 2021, 6 bags in April 2022, 8 bags in September 2022, and 15 bags in March 2023.
06/10/23: Veronica, Deneen, Rev. Carter and Gene cleaned morning glories and other weeds off the back fences at the Carver Garden.
06/03/23: One Valley sponsored a “Get to Know your Neighbor” event on the lawn of St. Paul’s UMC, originating from one of our Community Conversations. Neighborly greetings, free hot dogs and fixings were provided to all who came. Children’s activities were available, as well as information regarding various summer programs for youth in the area.
Later that same afternoon, the “Take Root” students celebrated the completion of their spring term at Lick Run Farm. Food was the centerpiece of this celebration, as the students provided a variety of dishes that they had prepared as part of their training. Amazetta and Hunter then led the students in a celebratory drum circle with chants and singing.
